There are times when the national flag is raised in the United States. There are certain ceremonies that call for the proper raising and display of the US flag. The idea is to let people contemplate on the greatness of the nation and to instill the virtue of patriotism everywhere.

Every Fourth of July, people celebrate Independence Day. On July 4, 1776, America officially became a free nation by fighting back the European regime. The stars and stripes were seen by people which symbolized that America is already free. Flag Day is another time when the US banner is raised. Independence Day is an official national holiday, but Flag Day is not. However, people still continue to practice the tradition of showing the flag on these two occasions.

On Veterans Day, Americans remember the soldiers who fought the great battles, such as World War II and the Vietnam War. It is a time to give thanks to the brave souls who gave up their lives so that others may be free. Every November 11, people remember the veteran soldiers.

On President’s Day, the US flag is raised. It is often celebrated on the third Monday of February. Specifically, the special day refers to George Washington, the great leader who helped shaped the country into what it is today.
Memorial Day is held every May 31. It is a time when Americans also give thanks to the brave soldiers who risked their lives for America.

The US flag has 50 stars in all and 13 stripes.
