Getting lost is a truly harrowing experience. It will test everything that makes you human. And sometimes, it will leave you a little less than who you were before you got lost. Other times, it will make you stronger. However, if you want to even make it out alive, you have to prepare for everything that might come your way.

The first thing to consider when preparing for a trip is that when you disappear for a day longer than you planned, people should already be out searching for you. This is a safety measure that you need to follow if you want to be discovered in case you get lost. This means that you have to inform people about your plan. You will also have to inform them of what to look out for. This is when your preparation comes in. you will want to bring a few blank flags to trace your steps into the wild. If they can follow that trail, you will have a higher chance of survival.

If you are going into charted territory, you might want to scout out the areas close to where you want to go to. This should open a few options for you as there should be a few towns somewhere. You might want to look out for specific landmarks around the area you will want to explore. Look for things like golf flags or other things that generally stand out. This is because the more signs of human interaction you can see, the closer you are to a town or a settlement. This means that you can probably walk to it if you need to cut your trip short.
