Collecting custom flags is a past time that is fast becoming popular. It may be not as common as the usual hobbies of stamp or coin collecting but it is as enjoyable.
One of the hobbies that is getting popular fast is collecting custom flags. Although it is not as common as the more common past time such as collecting stamp or coin but is comparably fun to do.
Collecting flag is a legitimate hobby that there is a specific science of studying and it is called vexillology. It used to be difficult to find out about the history of a certain flag especially completing a collection of it but through the help of the internet nowadays it is easily possible. Unlike collecting stamps and coins, these were easier to do because these are normally circulating in postal services and trades. Flags, on the other hand, were difficult because people do not easily share or trade flags. Handling flags are delicate because its treatment is similar to respect to your own country.
Contrary to the statement above, the reason it is now easier to collect flags is because of the internet. Finding a supplier or fellow hobbyist and ordering it are easier now.

There are different sizes of flags and usually each size has a certain name or term. But first, let us focus on the terms or names of the parts of the flag set. The flagstaff or flagpole is the pole that holds a flag. The hoist is the edge or side of a flag that is adjacent to the pole. The fly is the side of the flag that is opposite to the hoist. It is also the term for the length of the flag horizontally.
