Contrary to the statement above, the reason it is now easier to collect flags is because of the internet. Finding a supplier or fellow hobbyist and ordering it are easier now.

The flagstaff or flagpole is the pole that holds a flag. The hoist is the edge or side of a flag that is adjacent to the pole. The fly is the side of the flag that is opposite to the hoist. It is also the term for the length of the flag horizontally.
