Thursday, March 12, 2015
You will notice how several flags have been influenced by the French flag, particularly its tricolor design.
The flag of Mexico is one of those tricolored flags too. The flag features green, white in the middle and red. The coat of arms is found in the middle of the Mexican flag on the white band, which makes it different from the flag of Italy, although both banners feature the same three colors.
If you look and observe, the flag of Mexico features a darker green and red hue compared to the flag of Italy. The Mexican flag also appears more rectangular in shape because it has an aspect ratio of 4:7.
Some people thought that the flag of Mexico came from the Italians but this is not true. The Mexican flag’s colors have actually be present even before the flag of Italy was raised for the first time. The overall look and style of the Mexican flag was adopted officially in 1968, although it has already been used since 1821. The first national flag of the country was raised at that time.
If you consider the symbols, the Mexican flag has a few and also come with interpretations. The colors were the same ones used by the national liberation army when it tried to free the country from Spanish rule. The emblem at the center of the flag has a more sophisticated look and meaning. The flag of Mexico features a snake gripping and devouring a snake while on top of a cactus. The image was actually from the ancient Aztecs who built the ancient city of Mexico.
