You can instantly increase the sales of your store by providing gift certificates to people. Many people are actually confused on the best gift to buy their family and friends, which is why a gift card would be a more convenient choice for both parties.
As a jewelry designer, I discovered that I was losing sales because people did not know what to get their loved ones. I decided to hand out gift certificates and sales immediately grew from there, because people had the option to pick the materials, design and patterns they need when asking me to make jewelry.
There are plenty of places where you can redeem gift certificates like restaurants, gift shops, department stores, bookshops, flower stores and more. Gift certificates usually indicate which stores you can redeem these and the value and expiry period for claiming.
To make great gift certificates on your own, you should invest in a computer program.
Prepare a computer, printer and the right computer app that allows you to design and choose the specific templates depending on the design you want. These will not cost a lot and you get the advantage of having creative and high quality gift cards anytime.
Make use of attractive colors, images and words to entice customers to get more for their family and friends. There are available patterns and borders that make these look more appealing. You can also feature the official logo and name of your business to remind people about your offerings. I discovered that the best gift certificates include the necessary information that people will need when claiming.
Included in the list are the business name, business address, contact number or email, the name of the sender, the name of the recipient, the amount or value in dollars, the expiration period and the prohibitions. At the back, some companies include the rules and places where they can redeem the cards. You can also include the certificate issue number to keep track of how many cards have been released and claimed so far.
When you sell the gift cards, you should include the dollar amount and expiry date. Some people tend to forget that there is an expiration date and redeem too late. Many shops will no longer honor these when claimed beyond the redemption date. Also make sure that the person claiming is the same one listed on the certificate. Have the person present an identification card then enter his name and the certificate number in your logbook.
Keeping a gift certificate log will be helpful to track how well your sales improved since issuing the cards. You can also protect yourself from counterfeit certificates. Some unscrupulous people may change the amount and expiration date. Having the certificate unique number, name of redeemer and the date sold will guarantee that your transactions are not tampered with. Also have the person sign in your logbook after claiming his gift.

I make it a habit to keep a logbook and change the design of my gift certificates over time to prevent others from copying it.
