The cuisine in the United Kingdom features some of the best cooking practices in the British Isles. The approach shoes the culture inspiration of the colonial period as well as practices during immigrations after the war. The food in the UK features some of the best dishes available in the world. Some of the common food choices feature pork, chicken, beef, fish and lamb. These are usually served with vegetables and potatoes. Some of the most popular foods also include pies, eels, fish and chips, trifles and roasts. Some foods are local to certain places like the Cheshire cheese, Arbroath Smokie, Yorkshire pudding and Welsh rarebit.
About Festivals and Special Occasions
Some of the festivals in the United Kingdom date back hundreds of years. A number of big festivals in the UK include Easter, Halloween and Christmas. Christmas in England began in 596 AD. St. Augustine was known as the person who delivered Christianity to England. The dinner during Christmas in the UK feature roast turkey and vegetables in sauce.
Halloween is generally done on October 31. The event date back hundreds of years ago and is inspired by the “Samhain” festival which presents the end of the harvest period. The Gaels believed that the border between the dead and living disappear on October 31. United Kingdom residents dress up as ghouls, monsters and skeletons.
Other festivals include New Year and Plough Monday during January. Remembrance Day is held in November as well as Bonfire Night.

Other big events like the Beached Festival in Scarborough, Castlemorton Common Festival, Aldeburgh Festival, Harvest Festival and Greenbelt Festival are all celebrated in the country too. There is also the Pontardawe Festival, Llangollen International Eisteddfod and the National Eisteddfod of Wales.
