About Festival and Other Celebrations in the Area
Some of the festivals and events in the United Kingdom date back hundreds of years ago. Some of the biggest events in the country include Halloween, Easter Sunday and Christmas. Christmas is celebrated all over the world. In England, Christmas began in 596 AD when St. Augustine introduced Christianity. The usual Christmas dinner in the place would feature roast turkey, vegetables and desserts.
Every October 31, people also celebrate Halloween, which used to be an ancient Celtic festival called “Samhain”. It shows the end of the harvest season and people would usually dress up as ghosts and monsters so as not to be attacked by the dead when the boundary between the living and ghosts would disappear on Hallow’s Eve in the United Kingdom.
New Year, Plough Monday and Harvest Festival are also celebrated in the UK.
