There are a number of items to be familiar with when decorating for national holidays. A half fan in flag bunting is frequently seen during special days like Memorial Day, Independence Day, Election Day and Veterans Day, among others. The colorful materials, the folds and curves, the fan buntings and other decors may appear complicated, but you can actually learn how to make these over time. Prepare a pair of scissors, a sewing kit and machine and other related items that you might wish to add to make the project more beautiful. When making a funeral bunting flag, the approach is generally the same, but you have to follow a few guidelines to come up with the flag.
First of all, determine the proper width of the funeral bunting flag. The base of all your measurements will depend on the width. For instance, if you have a width of 30 inches, your base number should also be 30. The panel width must be half of the base number, in this case, 15. Also, the length of the panel must be the same or 15.
The strips of cloth can be divided depending on the width of the panel. If you have a panel width of 15 inches, you can prepare five pieces or strips, with each measuring 3 inches. You might also have to add an inch of seam allowance to each strip of fabric. You can cut five strips, with each measuring 4 inches wide. All the strip colors will make up your overall design.
Lay out all the cloth strips in the manner that you prefer then finally decide how you should sew these. You can sew each strip of cloth to the adjoining strips that will provide about 0.5 inch of seaming. All the sides must be hemmed and the edge must be folded below the one-fourth inch mark. Sew another seam along the fold which will hold all the edges together.
Position the panel on the ironing board then press all the seams. Keep these flat at all times. Turn the panel over and keep the right side up. Aim for the right number to divide the panel into equal parts. If the panel is 45 inches long, each section should be about 5 inches. You can also try other lengths, depending on your design. One side must fold at exactly five inches. You can also use an iron to make sharp creases and fold accurately. Fold the fabric to the side of the panel. Continue the approach until all the folds are done and the whole length of the panel is properly creased.
The folded fans can be attached. All the layers must be put back in the original place via folds. The needle will go through the fabric more easily. In the end, you have a beautifully made funeral bunting flag. Watch videos or photos on how to make the creases and measure the right way. There are also experts who can provide you with useful tips and guidelines so you do not ruin the fabric.
