How could you have missed an easy putt? Many golfers actually have the same sentiments many times.
Every golfer will understand or experience the feeling of missing a supposedly simple putt. You might spend several seconds baffled as to how you can have missed an easy shot a few feet away from the golf flag. When you start, everything seems calm and easy. You might even practice with your putting a few times before hitting the ball, and then everything goes downhill from there.
After you miss the first time, you gather your composure then set up again, trying to figure out whether the wind or angle had anything to do with the recent blunder. You hit the ball again. It rolls along the line as you planned, then suddenly changes direction, stops or rolls back a few inches away from the golf flag. Many golfers are embarrassed to share these types of experiences with their buddies but almost everyone has tried it at least once.
You might be trying to figure out what you did wrong or if there was something wrong with the golf club. Others even blame it on the golf course. You think things through and then try to go back with your memory as to why you could have missed a basic shot.

Start by asking what was going through your head when you walked towards the green. What were your thoughts and plans when you spotted the ball just a few feet away from the flag? Did you underestimate the whole scenario? Did you think that anyone could have done it?
Many golfers actually make the mistake of watching how the ground formed leading up to the golf flag. Others were examining the wind. Others might be more conscious of the people watching them. You might initially all features are in your favor, especially since the ball is a couple of feet away. A simple touch will drive the ball right into the hole. That can be your big mistake. You have to understand that regardless of your position in the golf course, you should never let your focus down. Every drive, chip, putt, lob and swing will require the same type of attention. You should never underestimate the distance between the ball and the golf flag. You might have been too confident from the moment you saw that the ball was a few feet away from the hole. Many golfers actually make the same mistake and believe that the game is done.
Many golfers will discover that even with the short distance, there are still several factors to observe to ensure that the ball will roll according to your plans. Check the angle of the ground, the wind direction, the grass, the golf club and even the people watching. Each one of these should be considered carefully if you wish to make every shot successful.
Over time, you will learn how to be more patient when putting. You will emerge as a winner if you can control your hits and pay attention to the smallest details.
