American flags are definitely a thing of pride and joy to the American
people. With it, people fly this proud banner whenever possible,
wherever applicable. Nevertheless, flying this flag requires some
level of sensitivity and etiquette, and a high degree of respect and
adherence. Here are some of those pointers.

There will be times when the American flag will be flown with other
flags and banners, some of which are adjacent to one another. In this
manner, it is important to remember that each national flag should
have its own flag pole. Furthermore, it would be good if the US flag
may be flown higher than the rest to signify its role in the array of
flags. This is usually done whenever there is an American sponsored or
organized event with other countries such as a summit.

In case the formation of flags would be in a circular manner, it would
be best if the US flag would be in the middle. In case everything
should be along the circular shape, then it should at least be flown
higher than the other flags.

A special case should be taken into consideration should the American
flag be flown with other nations’ flags. If other nations would have
their national flags flown with the US’ it is best to show respect and
equality among the other flags, therefore flying the US flag of equal
height with the rest.

In the event that the nation would be mourning for something such as
the loss of patriots in and out of the country, especially when
defending the national honor, it is important to show proper decorum
by flying the American flag at half mast. Flying it halfway along the

pole shows respect over the passing of a national asset.
