Nowadays, it is not surprising to find some people addicted to a certain activity or perhaps substance. While some may shrug off an acute episode of addiction due to its interesting theme for the individual, some have been totally sucked into the addiction because of a perceived need for the specific thing. More often than not, this type of addiction is quite severe that the normal productivity and function of being a social being is affected much as well. One such instance is alcoholism or alcohol abuse.
Thanks to a duo of concerned former alcoholics, these two formed the socio civic group we are all familiar now called Alcoholics Anonymous. Through a formulated and effective twelve step program for those addicted to alcohol consumption, plus a very well conducted series of fellowships and cell group help, the feeling of belongingness and the abolishment of feeling alone has greatly helped thousands of alcoholics get back to their feet and be sober.
In a survey made by the AA group in 2004, it was found out that in Canada and in the US alone, about 10 thousand alcoholics have been treated of the affliction, staying sober on average of 8 years and counting. Thanks to a good support group from previous alcoholics who are already presently sober, plus other socio civic organizations in line with the cause such as Sober Sources Network, the road to sobriety is clearer and more attainable to everyone afflicted.

Currently as the most popular and most sought after program for alcohol dependency reformation, Alcoholics Anonymous one positive group helping out society retain order and reformation.
