Flags came into existence hundreds of years ago. It serves as an identification of a country or a territory or a symbol to mark a particular land area. Flags are made up of fabrics that are hoisted on a pole and raised as high as possible to make it highly visible all throughout a given area. It also helps to announce the clan or tribe to where a person belongs to, hence, as identification.
Today, flags are ever present and used in various ways for a lot of reasons. The most common purpose is to display their pride on where they come from or originate. There are also different kinds of flags such as state flags as well as international flags that represent a state such in the United States or a country, the latter type of flag being much of the norm.
The fifty states of America have  their own flags commonly prominently displayed on government buildings as well as in schools . Each of the flags of these fifty states comes in various colors with emblazoned symbols on them distinct from one state to the other with rife with meanings. The Colorado State flag is a good example. This state’s flag has four colors which are symbolic of environmental features. It has two blue stripes that represent the blue skies of Colorado and one white stripe that mirrors the snow capped mountains of this part of the US. A large C stands for Colorado, the letter having the color of red, representing the soil of the state. Embedded in the letter is a gold disc that symbolizes the radiant sunshine.

Apart from state flags, many people take pride in flying their American flag. It just goes to show how much they take pride of their nationality as well as of the sovereignty of their land of milk and honey.
