The Southern Cross is one of the most distinctive elements of the Australian flag. It was included during a flag design contest and is one of the most unique features of the banner. Whenever people view the Australian flag, they will immediately notice the cross and know that they are looking at the symbol of the land down under. The Southern Cross is comprised of five stars. There is a small star and four big ones. The appearance of the stars actually went through a number of adjustments through the years. Initially, the stars had five points then were changed to having nine points. The addition of points referred to the addition in brightness of the stars. However, many advised that it would be easier to make the flag if there were seven points only. The small flag would feature five points.
Another unique element on the flag of Australia is the Federation star. It is the big star of the Union banner. The star design also went through a number of changes through the decades. First, it had six points to stand for the six colonies that merged to form the country. In 1908, the star added another point to represent Papua. The flag now features seven points even though Papua has separated itself from Australia. Papua gained its independence in the year 1975.

Similar to flags around the world, the Australian flag has a lot of symbols and is rich in background. Many of the elements on the flag actually talks about the background of the nation.

Vienna is the capital of the nation of Austria. It is very rich in history and culture, featuring several artworks and musical creations from renowned artists. A number of notable world-class composers actually originated from Vienna together with Professor Freud, the famous psychosexual expert. Because of its artistic background, Vienna, Austria is called the city of dreams. Many groups and international agencies come to the country to have meets and summits such as the United Nations. The city of Vienna is home to many famous musical experts like Beethoven, Brahms, Mozart and Strauss. These artists went all the way to study and improve their skills and talents. The city of Vienna has been an important part of the lives of these legendary artists.
At first, the Imperial Palace called Hofburg served as a medieval castle. Afterwards, it became the home of the Habsburgs family during their reign. Today, the building serves as a national library, featuring many historical items and pieces. There are several weapons, books and ancient artifacts that you can find in the building. Austria has a lot of special items like the 2860-carat emerald.
The Vienna Boys Choir also present every Sunday at the chapel.

When you plan to visit Vienna, the capital city of Austria, the Danube Tower or Donauturm is a must see attraction. It is a distinct tower measures at 232 meters tall and is considered as the tallest tower in Austria. It has a rotating restaurant on the top wherein people can widely see the view of the whole city, and of course, while relishing local Austrian dishes. Part of the tower’s attraction is the bungee jump. This is the highest bungee jumping tower in the world.
Another landmark cultural monument of Vienna is the Schonbrunn Palace. It has over 1441 rooms with artistic wall paintings and numbers of grand chandeliers. This palace was built in 1960s during the time of the Habsburgs monarchs then was seized by the Emperor Franz Joseph, the president of the German Confederation. This is where the emperor stayed until his final days. His death gave birth to the new republic. One of the highlights is the room where the famous musical composer stayed, Mozart.
Vienna of Austria is most especially famous for its music. This is where world famous composers came from or at least studied and got their inspiration from. Aside from Mozart, they are none other than the likes of Brahms and Beethoven.
Art and culture are one of the best highlights of the city as well. Aside from very old palace and castles with historical paintings, are the beautiful outdoor landscapes. They have parks and scenic gardens. Indeed, this is a city which is worth a visit.

The Danube Tower is one of the most marvelous sights in Vienna, Austria. It is also referred to as the concrete tower which stands 352 meters high. At the peak, you will find a rotating restaurant where you get to view the whole city as well as eat many of the delectable dishes that Austria is known for. The tower also features a special activity, the bungee jump. It is the highest bungee place worldwide.
The palace of Schonbrunn dates back to the regime of the Habsburgs family. Subsequently, Emperor Franz Joseph ruled the country and lived in the palace until his death. The new republic gained control over the country afterwards. There is also a special room where the great musician Mozart used to play the piano for the empress. There are majestic chandeliers and attractive fresco ceilings inside the building.
Outside the castle, you will find a park with a captivating garden. There is a hut, an orchard, beds of flowers and other beautiful things in the garden. The palm house features three climate controls so that plants from different parts of the world can grow at the right atmosphere. There are 1440 rooms in all inside. You can learn a lot about the Austrian culture by visiting these famous landmarks.
Vienna, Austria is also home to the legendary musicians and artists that continue to influence the experts today. You will discover new things every time you visit. Take the time to visit during different seasons to see the difference in the garden.
