Years ago, flags were invented with the sole purpose of providing identity to the people living in a given territory. Today, flags are used to identify a country, a state, an athletic team or even a school to enumerate a few.
The most common use of a flag is the one that bears the pride of a country, which falls in the international flag category. One can see this type of flag proudly flying high on government buildings in almost all country that a person may come to visit. That state’s flag can be seen on important buildings in that country even on castles and museums, the display of which is always a testament to the citizenry’s honor and dignity.
International flags are also on display in one of the world’s popular events: futball or better known as soccer. Competition between teams coming from different countries is an instant crowd drawer in the international arena. Avid followers of the game become immerse in cheering for the teams of their respective countries. They would come often with miniaturized replica of their country’s flag showing their support and loyalty to their team by cheering on and waving the flag that they carry. As one takes a look at the spectators’ seat areas, one can be amazed by the kaleidoscope of colors these colorful flags brandish about.
Flags are also made into souvenirs, always available on tourist shops where one can buy memorabilia of the travel done on the countries they have just visited. . What better reminder of the trails a person has blazed on.

Flags have evolved in their uses from one that is noble to one that appeals to our sense of fun and excitement. So today, people buy flags to commemorate events, to portray their favorite past times, to announce their club affiliations or pledge devotion to a particular sports team. As holidays are always right around the corner, flags used to as buntings during a holiday are popular as well.
