Watching cheerleaders and band majorettes perform truly is amazing. Each movement is perfectly executed and each step is carried out with precision and grace. What is even more amazing is when these girls show off their tricks and those are twirling and spinning the twirler flags during parades, tournaments and pep rallies.

And these performers do not just carry with them ordinary dance apparatus- they take with them a specially made twirler flag that enhances their dance routine and add splendour to their dance moves. Do you remember Gwen Stefani’s Hollaback Girl video? If you have seen it, then you will be impressed at how the video was made even more dazzling with the aid of these twirler flags.

Flag dancing and flag twirling have been increasing in their popularity so much so that exhibitions and competitions are conducted regularly to showcase a performer’s prowess in this field of creative art. Events such as Regional and National Events of the United Spirit Association and Miss Dance Drill/Team USA  continuously conduct competitions to search for talented twirler flag dancers and share this art to everyone.

Most schools actively participate in these events and challenges every performer to show off unique twirling and spinning abilities to wow the audience and win the hearts of the judges. The team featured in Gwen Stefani’s Hollaback Girl video is actually from Carson High School and they are the three-time title holder of almost all the competitions in the United States.

Flag dancing, twirling and spinning have been incorporated in almost every cheerleading routines. This unique art actually adds more spice and funk on the regular frenzied cheerleading sequence. Floor exercises, kicks, pyramids, lifting and acrobatics are truly exciting and must-see highlights of cheerleading competitions.  Inserting flag dancing using colorful twirler flags in the middle of the routine makes that cheerleading demonstration more spectacular and fantastic.

Initially, start it by preparing the flag’s base, fold the paper into 24 equal squares with about a pattern of six by four, be sure to check it and produce the longer side into six squares while four square on the other side which is shorter. It is better for you to have some papers folded the same with the other one just in case you have mistakes. Recommended coloring materials are poster paints or waterproof paints. Make sure to cover the entire area you are using with old newspaper to avoid mess.

You can give instructions to your kids on the fraction format with corresponding colors as well to create a flag, it could be ½ blue and ½ red. The most cost-effective way to advertise a brand, a product, a service, a person or an organization is to put up street banners where everyone passing by could see and note whatever is being advertised on the banner. These street banners are quite noticeable and can be seen by passersby  on public roads and may be viewed by frequent fliers from the airspace. Now this definitely upholds the main purpose of advertising- to promote the subject on a larger scale, affecting more than the target market.

While this may be good news to the advertising firms and their clients, street banners have become a nuisance to some so that rules and regulations concerning the installation of street banners have been put to law. Standards and limitations have been specified including the display location, duration of display and the dimension allowable for display of street banner. Indeed, the government have strict policies regarding the mounting of street banners. Some cities actually do not allow putting up of street banners by advertising agencies despite being an area where the government might earn revenue as permits must be secured and taxes must be paid before putting up a street banner.

Taking the extreme level, the local government of Moscow has completely banned the putting up of street banners and has removed currently existing street banners. To allay possible complaints from the advertisers and clients, a budget has been allocated to reimburse advertisers for the expenses incurred for the street banners.

Sadly, the custom banners industry in this locality is declining as a result of the government ban. In consequence, more jobs are lost and the unemployment rate continuous to plunge. When asked why there is a total ban for street banners in Moscow, the local government said that these banners tend to exaggerate what is being advertised leading to market deception and cause heavier traffic and pollute the city.

So what is the moral lesson in this story? Advertisers must exercise honest and responsible product endorsements and make sure that people are dispatched to make sure that the banners do not clutter the city.  And most especially, advertisers must abide by the rules concerning street banners.
