Custom Street Pole Banners - Custom Feather Flags

Friday, January 17, 2014
It is common to find custom flags represent the different companies in
the army, or perhaps different political representations such as
countries and states. But did you know that the flags that we see now
have been part of human existence the very same time that man started
to settle down from its previous nomadic state?

It was during the time when man started to write and become socially
linked that flags was first used. Usually made from any writable
material such as paper, cloth, or even leather hides from animals,
flags were used to give significance with the identity of the bearer
that it carried in its colors and symbols.

Used both indoors and outdoors, some of the most common use for these
flags was family crests and symbols that denoted the heritage and
prestige that came along the family name over the years. This is
usually common in Europe where the families held royal positions and
had to bear their names in symbolic form so that other clans would
recognize their past and be given due reverence.

Flags and banners weren't all rectangular during those days. There
were even pentagons and triangles. These irregular shapes went into
popularity mainly because the top side had to be flat in order to be
fastened to a horizontal bar atop the pole. The pointed bottom
probably had to be such so that it would not be as cluttered when it
flapped against the wind.

Outdoor flags most probably had to be rectangular as it had to be very
visible even from afar. A large encompassing rectangle would be easily
recognized from a distance, especially as it unfurls magnificently
against a good steady wind.

As time progressed, flags evolved from family crests and identifiers,
very much political to a more subtle and socio-civic domain. For
instance, sporting events make good use of flags and banners to
represent their competing team or delegation against others.

The versatility of custom flags constantly evolves as time and

civilization changes.
