Many individuals claim to be proud and loyal to their beloved United States but truly do not understand the rules on how to handle the American flag with the reverence it deserves. When you prepare for a big meeting, you should learn the right manner of displaying the flag. There are people who are quite sensitive to the proper positioning and treatment of the national banner, such as military men and political leaders. Always present the flag in the best way possible.
First of all, make sure that the American flag is positioned at the right side, when you are facing the audience. On top of the stage, it should be on the left side when you are facing the speaker or host.
Many groups and people still display the flag improperly. Once, I walked into a room and saw that the flag was on the opposite side of the platform. Worse, it was featured upside down.
I wanted to fix the problem immediately so I asked some help from a friend and brought the flag down. It was better folded than hanging in such a horrific manner. The flag also has a proper way of being folded. I do so properly then placed it over the long table. My friend told an attendant to display the flag the right way the next time and never to put it back like that again.
Despite the instructions my friend gave, the personnel still treated the flag with disrespect. She had the fabric touch the ground while fixing it onto the flagpole. Again, she made the same mistake of installing the banner upside down. I told her that the starry area should be on the upper left portion of the material.
