Custom Street Pole Banners - Custom Feather Flags

During the 18th century, Christopher Moody was well known as a pirate in the South Carolina coast. He was said to have been captured and hanged. Moody’s pirate flag was popular because it featured gold and red colors. There was a gold hourglass with black wings, which indicated that his enemy’s time was up. There was also a white arm and hand holding a dagger and the classic skull over crossbones. The red background stood for blood. Moody and his crew were feared during their time.
Another famous pirate from France was Emanuel Wynn. Many believed that he was a pioneer in displaying the Jolly Roger flag. There is no definite proof of that fact, however. His flag featured the skull against the crossbones with an hourglass below.
The Black Bart banner is known to be the official pirate flag of Bartholomew Roberts. It featured a pirate balancing over several skulls. The letters “ABH” and “AMH” also appeared under the skulls, which meant, “A Barbadian’s Head” and “A Martiniquan’s Head”.

Although the stories may often be thought of as mere myths, pirates were very much real in the past. There are even present-day pirates that still rob and attack sailing vessels. Pirate mascots, pirate flags and pirate toys are available in various places and these are even more common during Halloween and costume parties. Designers are becoming more creative in featuring pirate clothes and accessories. People have also become fonder of dressing up as pirates.
