Every country has its own share of customs and traditions when it comes to celebrating Christmas. In Italy, Christmas time lasts for three whole weeks, compared to most places where the holiday is celebrated for a mere single day. Oftentimes, Spaniards begin the celebration with a Novena.

The Novena is done eight days before Christmas Day. The practice has been done in the past several years. Music playing is also a common activity during Christmas and talk about the celebration as a family. The Novena involves several young people playing music together. They would sing Christmas carols in front of homes as well as share stories of the nativity. The musicians will usually be in costume, wearing Christmas colors or shepherds’ clothes. They would also receive money and other treats while singing at homes.

The Italians celebrate Christmas in a different way compared to other nations. In Italy, Christmas lasts more than just one day. Some celebrate the holidays for a full three weeks. Often, the event always starts with a prayer.

People begin the Novena about eight days before December 25. The tradition has been passed on for several decades. People generally play music and share fun times together. The Novena time is usually followed by young individuals who are good at playing musical instruments. They go around town singing Christmas carols as well as sharing Christmas stories. Musicians sometimes dress in Christmas clothes, while others are dressed like shepherds. The performers would sing at various homes around the community. They usually get money in exchange for the holiday cheer that they bring.

Only a few flags can bring out feelings of patriotism as much as the Italian flag with its green, blue and white hues.
The Italian flag is often seen by many as a symbol of altruism and virtue. The green color represents hope, the red means charity and the white stands for faith. These are all principles of a pure and good human person. These are actually the traits that Italians aim to have throughout their lives.
The Italian flag was first seen during the Cisalpine Republic at Modena in 1797. The Italian Constitution was formed by the Austrian Hapsburgs. It was actually influenced by the French Constitution. Napoleon I controlled the kingdom of Northern Italy in 1805 and featured the tricolor flag to represent his power. Under Napoleon I and Pope Pius VII, the 15 states were converted into three regions.

Many people would immediately answer Rome, Italy when asked where they wish to have a big vacation. The culture and history of the place is very rich, dating back centuries. There are still many structures and items found around Rome that point to its historic past. Rome is the capital of Italy and everywhere, you will find old churches, cathedrals, museums, artifacts and heirlooms. Some of these are thousands of years old, while others refer to the practices and spiritual nature of the people during ancient times.
You will discover a lot of things when visiting Rome because of its culture and background. However, try to look for these three areas when in the capital to widen your knowledge.
1. The Pantheon is known as the ancient temple of the Gods of Olympus. In ancient times, people would worship the ancient gods and goddesses in Rome. People like to come to the capital to witness the ancient structures and architectural wonders. Today, the place is still a church for many people. It also houses the tombs of Italy’s first king and the artist Raphael. The Piazza Della Rotonda is another must-visit place in Rome.
2. The Colosseum is another architectural wonder with a very rich history. It was the place where gladiators fought during big events. Slaves and warriors alike would fight each other and wild beasts to the delight of the Roman crowds.
3. The Trevi fountain is another great site to see in Rome. It is one of the most frequently visited places in the city. People would gather around especially during the height of the tourist season.

Many people dream of having a vacation in Rome, Italy. Because of the rich history, culture and wonderful people in Rome, people often wish to visit it when going to Europe for the first time. Rome is the capital of Italy and has been existent for thousands of years. When you visit, you will find various architectural sites and wonders, museums, old churches and ancient artifacts. People immediately fall in love with the place as soon as they see a few sites.
Rome is famous for its history and culture, dating back to ancient times. Rome actually has various great things to offer. The food is great, the people are friendly and the sights are breathtaking.
1. The Pantheon or temple of Gods is a place that pays tribute to the ancient Gods of Olympus. It is a must-visit destination when in Rome. The architectural design was created in ancient times and it is still a church at present. The tombs of artist Raphael as well as the first king of Italy are located there. The Piazza Della Rotonda is another place where young people flock at night.
2. The Colosseum in Rome is another place that you should never miss. It was where the gladiators of old fought against other warriors, lions and beasts to gain their freedom.
3. The Trevi fountain is another great place to go. Toss some coins in hopes of making some of your dreams come true. There are many crowds that visit the area especially during the height of the tourist season.
